Common Kingfisher is a sparrow-sized bird. It is a short tailed and large headed bird. The upper part is and under parts are orange and a long bill. It feeds mainly on fish, caught by diving, and has special visual adaptions to enable it to see prey under water.
Common Kingfisher lays white eggs in a nest at the end of a burrow in a riverbank. It is about 6.3 inches long with a wingspan of 9.8 inches. The average weight is 34–46 grams. It is a migratory bird and winters in Pakistan, northeastern Sudan, Yemen and Oman etc.
