The historic Khaplu Palace in Baltistan’s district Gangche got the “UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award 2013 for Cultural Heritage Conservation”. The award ceremony was held at the Khaplu Palace to recognize the efforts of Aga Khan Cultural Services Pakistan.

The Khaplu Palace was built in 1840s by Raja of Khaplu. The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation is a programme that recognizes the efforts of individuals.
