According to Himalayan Women Welfare Society, three Nepali women mountaineers successfully summitted K2 (8,611m). This is the first successful expedition by a team of women on K2, setting a new world record on Saturday 27th of July 2014.

Maya Sherpa, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa and Dawa Yangzum Sherpa became the first ever women climbers who made the successful ascend on the mountain of mountains with a motto ‘women climbing for climate change’. K2 is the world’s second highest mountain located in Karakoram Range, Pakistan.
